Part-time supervisor required for a digital PIP form-filling advice clinic
Pro Bono Community (PBC) is a registered charity which trains students and lawyers in legal advice and social welfare law before coordinating and managing placements for them to work as volunteers at advice agencies.
PBC is seeking a freelance supervisor to supervise a team of student volunteers supporting a digital free legal advice clinic operating in partnership with a well-established advice agency in north London and specialising in Personal Independence Payment form-filling and associated issues. The clinic has received grant funding for a minimum of three months from early autumn but it may be possible to extend this if suitable continuation funding can be found. It is anticipated that the clinic will open on one day a week (preferably Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) for two to three hours and the supervisor will support the clinic with at least eight hours work per week at a suitable freelance rate.
The project will pilot a new, entirely digital approach to providing free legal advice in which supervisor, volunteers and clients are all based remotely. The project will build on an established training and placement model developed by PBC whilst also making advice available to people who would not otherwise have access to it. There may be some experimentation with digital technologies in the course of the project so familiarity with appropriate digital tools and platforms will be beneficial. Experience in delivering training in physical and/or online formats will also be beneficial.
If you are interested in this role, please send expressions of interest with details of experience and an indication of your hourly freelance rate to Bill Skirrow at email@example.com.
